Siena on List of Schools with Highest Graduation Rates

U.S. News & World Report inlcudes Siena in their list of schools with the highest graduate rates.
According to the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems, 56 % of U.S. college students graduate from college within 6 years. 73% of Siena students graduate in 4 years.

2008 Was a Fabulous Year in Foy Hall

Br. Brian Belanger, director of international programs; Judy Dougherty, assistant director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; Suzanne O'Connor, associate director of the Career Center and Deb Del Belso, director of the Career Center all turned fifty this year, and all work in Foy Hall.

They put peace signs on their tee-shirts because the peace sign was started in 1958.

Siena Grad Makes New York Post Headlines

Chris Connolly, a 2006 graduate of Siena College, double checked 92-year-old Mary Alice Fallon's lottery ticket, which she had given to him to throw away, and realized she had won $1 million.

This all occured at his parent's grocery store in Breezy Point, N.Y.

The article says that Connolly has been working here since graduating from Siena College.

Franciscan Giving

This year, Siena collected well over 1,000 gifts for 651 capital region residents as part of the annual Franciscan Giving Tree event. Employees also adopted 58 families.

Funding for college student financial aid could be cut as our elected representatives figure out how to close a $15 billion hole in the state’s Budget. Governor Paterson will announce his financial plan for New York State on December 16, including what he wants to spend on higher education programs like TAP, HEOP, STEP/C-STEP, and Liberty Partnerships.

Siena Employees Receive Trustco Bank Award at Siena/SUNY Game

Nikki Carpenter, Katie Cooney-Lesko, Jim Eaton, Sarah Devoe, Noel Hogan, MaryKate Kraus, Allison Maloney, Norah Maloney and Robin Wojcik received the Trustco Bank Award at the game's halftime.

The team signed up to run a half marathon as part of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, the world’s largest charity sports training program in May 2008.
The Siena team was inspired to run by Alivia Lovell, the daughter of a colleague, who was diagnosed with ASL Leukemia when she was just two years old. After twelve weeks of training and fundraising, all 9 team members finished the Mohawk/Hudson Half marathon on October 12, thanks to their running coaches Meg, Dan and Danny, as well as their campaign director Robyn.
The team raised a total of $10,000 for blood cancer research, education and patient care. They are even happier to report that 4-year-old Alivia was recently released from Duke’s Children’s Hospital and came to cheer them on at the race!
