Nice issue of Siena News. The feature story was so touching. As an alumnus, I really enjoying receiving issues of Siena News. I like the new format too. It's easier to read through. I also saw that Siena's Commencement this year is off-campus for the very first time since the college's founding. I'd like to see some sort of story as to why this decision was made...maybe in a future issue or something? Does this mean it will be off-campus from here on out?? I graduated in 1998 and I thought it was nice having it on campus. Just a story idea for the future, I think alumni would be interested in the decision. Keep up the great work on Siena News!
Thank you for your compliments. We appreciate the feedback.
Siena's Ccommencement will be held at the Times Union Center this year. This difficult (it certainly is a nice ceremony on campus, too) decision was made after talking to the different groups around campus, especially class of 2009 representatives. Holding Commencement downtown will allow each student to invite ten family members and friends to the ceremony, rather than four (if the on campus ceremony is held inside due to the weather, four per person is the most we accomodate).
Look for Commencement articles in the summer issue, probably in early August.
Siena College is a learning community advancing the ideals of a liberal arts education, rooted in its identity as a Franciscan and Catholic college.
The beautiful, suburban campus is home to 3,000 undergraduates, located in Loudonville, N.Y. , just a few miles outside of the state capitol. We offer 28 majors, as well as 46 minor and certificate programs. Our students engage in a personalized education where they are challenged in a way that ideally prepares them for a lifetime of extraordinary achievement.
