Those running the portfolio should have a blog detailing all investment decisions and portfolio performance. The blog should document the reasons for the investment decisions and include the names of those taking part in the decisions. Performance data should appear and be maintained on the blog as well.

Talking about a small group of students in an essentially private newsletter that is read by an even smaller group of readers is nothing but a feel good piece and really does not offer members of the portfolio management group much in the way of real world experience that can be translated to the job world.

Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your comments, I will forward them on to the professor. However, the students do document and publish all of this information online- Not only where the money is going, but their justifications behind their decision making.

Also, over 16,000 copies are printed of this newsletter. It is sent to all of Siena's business alumni, as well every AACSB accredited school in the United States. It is also available to the world via Siena's Web site.
The article, of course, is written in order for a wide audience to understand all that this program offered at Siena. However, the course itself is 100 percent based on real world experience for these students. They use the technology at Siena to study the stock market and invest real money.

If you would like to know more abouy the details and course requirements, please e-mail us at communications@siena.edu. We can even set up a tour of the Hickey Financial Center, so you can see these students in action.
